Two years ago when I was 22, I was a truck driver and I got a ticket for not stopping at a port of entry. I paid the ticket and went back to work. My boss called me and told me that my license was suspended and I needed to take time off to get the matter resolved. I went home and my local DMV said it was suspended from the ticket that I got for the port of entry ordeal. I had to call their court office and get the matter resolved.
I got kidney failure around this time and I was in and out of the hospital and doctors offices alot and doing dialysis every other day and eventually my boss had to let me go because I was missing to much work.
I know its my fault but I got some more tickets about 2 weeks after got home from being on the road. It was for the suspended license and expired tags and no proof of insurance. I have no excuse for that and I know I was in the wrong.
Two years later, now its 2006. Im disabled now. I have to depend on the government to support me. But, I recently got a kidney transplant about three and a half months ago and now Im trying to get my life back. I still have doctors appointments all the time but its ok.
I guess this is my situation......
I still need to go to the doctors office alot and to get labwork done and get prescriptions and stuff.
I know that none of my traffic issues have been resolved for the past two years and to be honest I probably have a warrant for failure to appear for those traffic tickets.
Sometimes I still drive knowing that if I get pulled over that I'll go to jail, but I still have to make all my appointments and labs and get my meds for my health.
Im really in a jam and I don't know what to do.....
I want to do the right thing and make things right again, but I know that the judge probably won't go easy on me especially since the tickets are from two years ago. But the reason that it wasn't resolved two years ago is because I lost my job and had no way to pay for the tickets and there was just so much happening to me at the time that it wasnt important to me, my health was more important to me...
Anyways, should I hire a lawyer??? I hear that they can work wonders in the court room.
I know that the judge will probably want to keep my license suspended but I still have to go to my appointments and do labwork and get meds and stuff. Do they give special permits or something for that kind of thing???
Im a law abiding person and I really want to make thing right. I know by my actions that what im doing is for the best but if you guys can give me some input on what I should do I would be so greatful.
