Rep Power: 0 | | Reckless Driving Ok, so i was driving home friday night, and i was doing so angrily, so i was speeding, i saw a cop and it was to late, i knew he was going to pull me over, so i got into a parking lot, and sure enough, as soon as i turned, lights turned on. he did his usual thing, and told me i was going 86 in a 45. So i have a court date. first thing i need to no, is there any way that they may reduce the charge so i can just get a regular speeding ticket? I am a 17 year old kid, but i will be 18 before the court date, it is at juvinile court, do i still need a parent? this is my first offense. i am in the process of obtaining my eagle scout, and my dad recently lost his job so i had to pick up some of the bills. I dont have to much to spend, but will do my best for whatever fine they give me or what not, but the biggest thing that makes my sad is the insurance, nothing i can do about that. This all happened on 28 in VA. |

Rep Power: 10 | | Re: Reckless Driving I'm going to give you an opinion.... I think reckless driving and speeding are some of the most difficult tickets to beat... Most of the time, it's very difficult to beat a police officers statement who appears on a speeding ticket... But a lot depends on the court... Here in New York, most courts rarely reduce speeders, but courts which are particulary busy will reduce iinfractions, points, and fines for speedy guilty pleas - so much will depend on the court... I'm unfirmiliar with VA traffic courts, but I recommend, on a hefty charge like excessive speeding (which it looks as you were doing [excessive is usually over 15 MPG higher than limit]) or reckless driving where it will strongly effect your license an insurance to appear with a lawyer... A consult with a lawyer in VA, will know by the court address on the appearence ticket just how flexable those courts are.
