Rep Power: 0 | | Failing to call within 10 days Hey all,
Got in an accident (not my fault technically) but in Michigan it's a ticket if you hit someone in the back.
My ticket was on 12/12/2007 and had to call within 10 days. the 10th day happened to be on Saturday (today), so I am screwed. I called today but the court was closed.
What is the procedure to follow from here? Can I call in on Monday and just scheduele a court date or do I need to pay some extra fines? |

All you can do is try at this point, but usually if you miss a date and still want to plead not guilty or try to fight it, you'll need to post a "bond".... On a ticket a bond is a payment to ensure you'll answer at the next date or you forfiet the bond money.

The problem is that I have 2 pending court dates on the 11th and 22nd of January. If I pay this ticket now, it is 3 points and that will show in my record, which is clean so far. For those 2 tickets I have already hired lawyers and expect to get no points. The 3rd one (the expired 10 days) I will go fight myself because even with a lawyer there is a high risk of getting points and paying $250 for a no-good lawyer is crappy.

Rep Power: 10 | | Re: Failing to call within 10 days I guess I would stall.... Post the bond... You will get the bond back if you win, or it will get applied to the fine if you loose... Just be sure to show up on the next date or you'll loose it.
