Rep Power: 0 | | Hit-and Run, wanted some advice Hello, my name is Neeraj, and I need some advice. I'm 18 years old and (prior to this occasion) had a perfectly clean record. I live in Illinois.
One day, I went out to get a haircut. I pulled in normally . In this occasion, my front bumper was next to the other car's rear bumper. I was parked very close, and if the other car had a passenger, they would not be able to enter, so I pulled out and back in. I did not feel any impact at this time. I went in and got my haircut. I estimate that it took about 20 minutes. I came out to the driver of the other car telling me that I had brushed him while I was pulling in, and that he had called the police. The officer arrived, and wrote me a ticket for a hit-and-run, failure to leave insurance info after impact.
I told the officer that the hit-and-run didn't seem appropriate because I did not know that I had caused an impact. She promptly got into my face and began telling me that if I lied to her, I would get another ticket. For what, she did not say. I attempted to tell her once more that I hadn't felt an impact when I pulled in, and she went to her car, presumably to get another blank ticket to write. At this time, I told the officer that I ahd hit the car, to cut my losses. She gave me a ticket, and I have a court date the day before I leave for college.
Could anyone give me some good advice? I really think that I was harassed by this officer, and I don't want this black mark on my record. What should I do? I have her badge number and such. |

Rep Power: 4 | | Move on It appears as though you would not be able to prove your case. Just grin and bear with it! Appear in Court. Your sentence will probably be compounded and you should be able to get to college after paying a fine.
Be conscious of your rights in future and do not give a false statement in a hurry if you want to make an issue of harassment by a police officer. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Hit and run Neeraj ,
I was wondering what the outcome of your case was. I am recently been accused of Hit and run in a similar manner, where I didn’t even realize that I have hit while parking my car.
Do you recommend getting the lawyer at once or not? I have only received a call from LAPD stating that detectives will call me to investigate the case.
