The Government has reduced by 90%-yes 90%, the fine that tobacco companies were asked to pay for harming health.
These lucky companies can now pay just 10% of a $ 130 billion award that was sought earlier.
Spoilsports like Edward Kennedy are questioning the generosity of Government.

gouvernments wont ban smoking due to the money they get from it!

It also makes one suspect that large companies have hidden influence on how Government works. The public interest could be subjugated.

I reckon that is just silly. The tax they get is simply just wasted into healthcare for ppl who smoke and get ill...

1. You do not worry about such things in a deficit economy.
2. Treatment for those who fall sick due to smoking is paid by those who do not, through health insurance costs. We should think of making cigarette companies pay.
