Question Which County

I'm really not sure how I should be asking the question I need an answer to but here goes.
I live in the The county of Wayne which is in Michigan. I received a summons to go to court in the county of Bay city thats about a hundred from where I live. It's for a credit card that I couldn't afford to pay over 2 years ago because my hours were cut and I just didn't have the money to pay them. I tried to make arrangements to pay them earlier this year but they refused and it was sent to arbitration. The thing is that by now the bill could have been paid from the date I spoke to them which was 2/2005. I thought that if you were to be served a summons, the court that you were to appear in was in the county that you resided. Am I wrong in this assumption?

Default Lawsuit Over Credit Card

Did you previously live in Bay City? They may have thought that your old address remained current. What ended up happening.
