I am ready to file for divorce. I would like to assume all of the debts that we currently have jointly. I would like my wife to walk away from debts that were related to my business. I may have to file bankruptcy some time in the future. Hopefully not. Can I do this so that she is protected? |

You can't take away a creditor's rights. If the debt is yours, you can probably protect your wife from liability, but a divorce judgment which assigns you a joint debt will not limit the creditor's ability to collect it from your wife. | | Domain Names Sponsor |  | |
