Default Child Support modification laws/rules

I live in Illinois. I have a court order CS agreement as of Oct 2005 when our divorce finalized. My ex was a union painter for 8 yrs till recently. He quit his job last week or got fired. He decided he is going to truck drive as an independent contractor, or sub-contractor, to get more hours so he is able to stay afloat and be able to pay child support. He says he won't start working for 6-8 weeks. I asked him about the job and how he gets paid and how insurance works. (my 2 kids are under his insurance) He mentioned cash as one of the options. My concern is my ex screwing me over on child support. As of now he owes me back pay, the CS agreement still stands as 28 % of is yearly income and no child support is coming in now. When he goes to court to request to modify CS what will have to show? Another concern of mine is the corruption of not paying CS when working as an independent contractor. I am worried that my ex will show less on paper ( money) and try to present it to the courts in order to get CS modified and the remainder of money that he is getting paid is being paid out "cash" ( no claiming involved...kids or taxes). How can I stop that from happening? My ex will lie in court to benefit himself, what can I do to protect myself from this? Is there a way I can convince the courts to keep the CS payments the same, even if it goes into trial, with my ex showing falsified documents. My ex is involved in politics in the town he lives in and the person that he is supposedly working for works in that town that is also involved in politics...I am afraid that connections will help him screw me over!!
