Heres the situation.

I have a 9 year old child. When I was 4 months pregnant my ex went to prision for a violent crime and theft, he got 12 years and did 6. During the time when he was in prision I received 100% custody. I also got married finished college and have a good job , etc. While he was in prision my child had no contact at all. when he got out of prision I agreed to let them meet and start a relationship. Well during the year of the relationship he caused numeros problems, made the child sleep in his bed, refused to purchase a bed, clothes, and acted very irresponsible in a varity of other ways. 2 1/2 years ago I started a child support claim, I didnt do this while he was in prision because I felt like it wouldnt be fair. He never paid child support then 6 months later he dropped off the face of the earth.

My husband and I have been talking about him adoption her for the past year, and we filed papers late last month. My child doesnt want to see him, the whole year they knew eachother she went through emotional issues and now she considers my husband her step daddy. He has provided for my child for the past 4 years.

I dont really know what Im getting at here, He doesnt know if he wants to agree to the adoption, he says "I dont want to get screwed" But yet he has never contributed or acted like a father while my husband has. Is it likely that he will be able to adopt? Does anyone know how this kind of situation usually plays out?
