Default Celebrity Couple's Child's .com domain name

Hello,

I just purchased the .com domain name of a celebrity couple's child's name. This child is only famous because of the parents. Does the domain name of the child's namesake have the same rights as celebritys' domain names in terms of cybersquatting?

The mother of this child has registered the .net, .org & .info versions of her child's name as well as for her other children. I was flabbergasted when I saw the .com domain name for one of her children unregistered. I did a search on the internet and see it has been registered before, then dropped and deleted over a year ago (from the best I can tell).

Have I stepped into a domain name landmine or can I profit from placing ads on this domain name and/or sell it now or in the future?

Let me know if you need more information.

Thanks!

There is a fine line depending on what you do with the domain... I believe sites created as "fan sites" are considered a fair use, but intent to sell the domain for profit may cause issues.

New York State became the first state to push laws that ban the registration of domain names of living persons with intent to sell them:

But I am not yet sure if the law has gone through completely yet. If you plan to use the domain, as a fan site, I believe it will be OK.
