Rep Power: 0 | | Lawyer refuses to pay my fees I'm a plumber & "professional handyman". I'm also no stranger to courts. Plus, I'm an ex-convict on parole. Here's the situation. I did a repair job for a real estate agent who manages the rental properties for this lawyer (I know him and have used him a few times for real estate and in a municipal court defense situation). His agent claims my charges were excessive, is not producing payment for my services (replaced broken windows and repaired damages to door from a burglary). Since she questioned my price I called a friend who is in the glass business and described the job to him and asked his price. He quoted me $250-300 to do the window repairs. I only charged $100.
Now, the clincher. It was a "please do this now job to secure the home the tenant lives in which is in a very bad neighborhood". It is also in a city where I'm not licensed to do business. However, it was a one time job and urgent. I can not risk this guy causing me trouble which might jeopardize my parole. I don't know of anything I've done wrong which could send me back to prison. I'm considering suing both the real estate agent and the lawyer (he owns the properties and is ultimately responsible for repairs to them) for not paying me for the job she hired me to do. It has been 29 days since I completed the repairs and faxed bills to her for 3 jobs (I don't know who owns the other property). Now she does not answer the phone or return my calls and neither does the lawyer/property owner. My question is... have I got a chance in hades of going up against a lawyer who is the defendant in small claims court? Should I have any fear of this guy trying to upset my parole (15 years on parole from a life sentence) ???? I'm virtually broke, so having a serious legal defense or representation is out of the questions. My local political skills and contacts are formidable but may not match those of the "boys in the club". |

Rep Power: 3 | | This is a residential repair, and you're not licensed to do the work in the location where the work was performed? Are you sure your state's laws would even permit you to sue? | | Domain Names Sponsor | | |
