Rep Power: 0 | | Daughter of Partner Embezzling Please Help Hello, We are in a partnership with another couple, their daughter whom is 38 has worked in our office taking care of the payroll and such for many years. Just recently we have found where the daughter has been paying personal bills, credit card bills (thousands of dollars each month) she has paid several of her accounts off by phone with the company account, writing herself petty cash checks($1000-$4000), they are also using the company credit cards to pay for vacations, and personal items which are paid for thru the company. We dont know how we should handle this situation since we are friends with this family and have been in business for over 10 years together. This is how we make our living...we have worked so hard..and can never seem to get ahead...yet this whole family lives like they are rich. We know this has been going on since at least 2002...I am sure it is into the 100 of thousands by now. It is not only her but also her dad. Please could you advice me to how this might be handled. Thank you.

Rep Power: 3 | | There's no good way. I would suggest consulting a small business lawyer and, if the lawyer concurs, hiring a forensic accountant to review the business finances and try to create an accounting of any misappropriations. But ultimately you are going to have to decide between abandoning the claim to the misappropriated funds (obviously not a good choice for you), trying to convince your partner and his daughter to return the money, or resorting to a civil lawsuit or criminal prosecution. | | Domain Names Sponsor | | |
