Rep Power: 0 | | Bankruptcy and Divorce My husband was married before. When he divorced, it was written into the divorce decree that the house was his. He paid his ex-wife for her equity in it. He then lost his job and decided to just let her live in it and pay the mortgage.
He filed bankruptcy and surrendered the house (but his name is still on the mortgage).
The ex-wife said she would refinance to get his name off the house, so he sent her a quit-claim deed. She's never refinanced.
She has been late on the payment for over 6 months and is currently 60+ days late, and all of this is being reflected on his credit report.
Is there ANYTHING he can do? We filed reports with the credit reporting companies, but they say it is valid and will stay on his report until she refinances and gets his name off the loan.
Edited to add- I know bankruptcy law is federal, but the divorce and house are in Alabama if that makes a difference. | | Domain Names Sponsor | | |
