Rep Power: 0 | | negligent maint, should I sue? I have been employed by my company for less than 60 days. In these 60 days, a 24" duct has collapsed in my building, crushing the 3 machines which I supervise, and a poorly maintained 120V electrical device shocked me for about 30 seconds until another coworker pulled me away from it. I was unable to let go on my own, because I happened to be touching a grounded object with my other hand.
The medical side was handled appropriately, and no health effects were evident. However, I am still concerned about long-term health, especially since the current passed across my chest through my heart. My larger concern is that the safety conditions of the entire facility are insufficient. The device that shocked me was supposed to receive maintenance every two weeks, yet its ground was bad and the wires were frayed and touching the frame.
I have found the safety committee to be a griping session. What avenues can I consider to make sure this company is forced to provide a safe work environment? |
