Rep Power: 0 | | Can I pay less for my Wedding reception because things were wrong / missing? Hi, I'm a first time poster on these forums so.. Hi everyone!
Ok, my question is this: I just got married last weekend. We had the ceremony and reception at a country club which we are not members, however, they agreed to rent us out the club house.
So the ceremony and wedding are over and here are the problems: - Only thing correct about our food was the green beans.
- no garlic butter on fillet mignon. We specifically went over this when we were there with the event coordinator on July 7th to go over things. We discussed possibly doing a Bearnaise sauce but then decided that staying with the garlic butter was what we wanted to do. The fillet's were dry because of no butter.
- The Chicken Marsala we got at the reception was not what we were served for our tasting ( not breaded, Marsala sauce was not even close ). We were served what looked like boiled chicken with some raw mushrooms on top and some brown type of gravy.
- we ordered scalloped potatoes, not cheesy au gratin potatoes. We clearly indicated that we wanted the non-cheesy potatoes but we got it anyway.
- No water outside during ceremony. We discussed with the event coordinator that there would be water stand outside during the ceremony to provide water to our guests because of the heat. There was no such water stand at all.
- We discussed that we would like sandwiches and drinks to be available all day for the bridal party to munch on. When we asked the event coordinator where these things where you told us that we never ordered any... we were under impression when we asked the even coordinator to have sandwiches and drinks available that we wouldn't need to then order them. I think speaking to the event coordinator about wanting them and ordering them would be the same thing.
- Desert pastries ( we didn't have a traditional cake ) were out when hor devours were being served so guests started serving themselves pastries. The DJ had to inform the guests that they were not to help themselves to desert until it was time for desert.
- The brides dress was still bustled when she went down the stairs / isle
- when bridesmaids asked for water, they had to go get it themselves
- bar was told to serve haufbrau beer first until gone...however, bottled beer was still seen.
There were more problems but that's just the short list. We still have one payment to make to the country club and I'm wondering if we can refuse payment, or possible negotiate lower payment due to the problems I just outlined.
Is this within our legal rights? Thank you for looking at this post and any advice you may have. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Re: Can I pay less for my Wedding reception because things were wrong / missing? No one has any feed back on this? I had a call with the woman who was the "event coordinator" of the place we rented and she basically said "tuff luck, we're charging your credit card anyway".
I'm wondering if I should halt payment for the charge or not. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you,
