Rep Power: 0 | | Stolen Property A few months ago our builder sent a sub-contractor to measure our home to replace our tiles. I left my engagement ring & wedding/anniversary band on a ring holder in my bathroom. He was unattended when he measured my bathroom & before he left, he asked to go back into the bathroom to remeasure something. When I went to put my rings on, they were gone. I filed a police report & the deputy tried calling the man & he avoided his calls. The deputy turned over the report to a detective, who unfortunately, did not believe me. It took the detective quite some time to even make contact with this man. When he did, he told me how cooperative he was & said he did a background check on him & his company & he didn't have a record or complaints against his business. I asked about a polygraph test & he said he would do one if I still wanted it. It turns out that a voice stress test was done & this person passed. I am curious as to what he was asked & the manner in which he was asked these questions. I would like to know how he passed. Regardless of what this detective thinks, this man stole my rings as he was the only person in my house. The case is now inactive. It's been 3 months since the rings were stolen & I have been checking Ebay & Craig's List in hopes that I would find my rings. I recently came across rings that are identical to mine. Same ring size, same stone size & same style. I actually won the bid & are awaiting the rings. If these rings are indeed mine, how do I go about prosecuting this person & get my money back. What type of proof do I need that they are mine? Also, I went to the police department & asked to view the voice stress test & was told that it was up to the detective. They wouldn't give me my police report either without the detective's approval. Is this normal procedure? What can I do about that? | | Domain Names Sponsor | | |
