Rep Power: 0 | | Safety issuse, SJUSD, poss electrocution I work for the San Jose Unified School District, they recently had retro fitted some buses with a machine that cooks the muffler, for emissions control, this was a fed grant. Well the drivers, like me, are required to plug it in. the plug is outside, we back the buses up to plug them in. On the warning tag, it says warning, risk of electrocution, then list warnings, the ones I am concerned with are, plug must be dry, hands must be dry, and plug cannot be on the ground. The first time I had to plug it in was in a storm. I told the District I don't feel comfortable plugging it in, as soon as I brought that up., my boss says the District wants to terminate me, unless I agree to extend my probabtion for two months. I refused, I got my old job back., this is such a blatten disregard for human safety., they don't care if we plug that sucker in in the rain, standing on a wet slab... what recourse do I have against them? Help?

Rep Power: 0 | | Re: Safety issuse, SJUSD, poss electrocution in my experience these safety issues are dealt with pretty well thru OSHA and heaven forbid I should use the dirty word "union" officers - we approached a similar issue here in Montana in the 90s thru our citizen's advocate's office and workmen's comp but the fellows who go results were with OSHA and that was mostly due to our union officers having the guts to go over the heads of the acceptable chain of command |
