In May of 2006 I was charged with Misdemeanor Sex with a Minor with out having to register as a sex offender in California. I was also placed on informal probation in which I am unsupervised, and don't pay the court for it.

The girl was just about to turn 18, we had been dating for nearly 3 years (and since highschool) and her mother decided last minute to press charges on me. She is nearly 20 years old now, we are still together (I'm 22 by the way, I was 20 at the time) and it's been over a year and a half since I was placed on probation.

I was wondering what steps I could take to attempt to obtain early termination of my probation. The problem is that a company wants to hire me and pay me really good money for a great job with lots of opportunities but cannot until I am off probation (in mid 2009).

Things I can bring up are not only that I'm still with the alleged "victim" but that I have this employer who knows my background but accepts that I have great character and full potential to work at their company. I also received a 4.0 GPA across 16 units on my last college report. The whole probation thing is really holding me back from benefiting myself and society as well.

My dad suggested I speak to the District Attorney (one who literally apologized to my father before prosecution because it was such a BS case). Every time I get her voicemail she never is able to contact me back. If I go to the court I have no idea where to go, what to say, or who to ask for.


Any suggestion on what I can do?

As far as I know, the best way to get an early termination from probation, is through the probation officer. If you are doing well on probation, the probation officer can suggest to the judge to give you an early release...

This frees up county resources when they feel that monitoring someone is a waste of time and energy of the department.

99% of the time the court, does whatever the probation officer recommends.

Being at a half-way point through the probation period is always helpful....

My probation officer while I was on supervised probation used to be pretty cool with me, but I haven't spoken with him in over a year since it was changed to informal probation.

I supposed I'll just head to his office on Monday and see what I can do.
